Mrtvica canyon

Canyon Mrtvice is situated in the central part of Montenegro, cut in between Maganik and Moraca mountains, where springs Mrtvica, under Kapa Moracka. River Mrtvica is long about 10 km, but a larger part is hidden in the canyon, where hights reach 1100 to 1250 m.
The tour starts from the village Medjurijecje, which is situated on the road Podgorica-Kolasin, about 35 km from Kolasin.

The first km of hiking upstream, we supervene on the Danilo bridge, which Montenegrin prince Danilo Petrovic has been built 1858. year, in memory of his mother Krstinja. Climbing through the path between low vegetation, over macadam way, we are coming on the trail which is cut in through the wood slopes.

Afterwards, we arrive at the Gate of Wishes, made of rocks. These rocks created a natural bridge, behind which can see the beautiful views at the calmest place in Mrtvica. Though it is bordered by wild rapids, at ones you can see a turquoise lake. There is also a table with instructions on how to throw rocks into the lake because only the pure wishes Maganik fairy can come true.

We keep going through the woods, where we are welcomed by Bijeli Nerini, a spring that crumbles into the river Mrtvica. Afterwards, we meet the Mrtvacke grade- -recessed passage on the edge of the rock, about 200 m, which is General Danilo Jaukovic broke 1973, with his army and people from that area how he could compound villages Velje Duboko and Mrtvo Duboko.
As we going out from Mrtvacke grede, we are coming to the beach, where we are having temporary break and picnic. Afterwards, backing the same way.

Trail length- about 15 km. Time for passing this trail- about 6 hours + transfers.

Transport from Kolasin we organize by minibus or jeep, depending on several participants.
