Spring Rafting On Tara River, Kolasin - Mojkovac
While the lower Tara Canyon is famous for its technical rapids, the upper stretch between Kolašin and Mojkovac offers a unique, adrenaline-fueled spectacle found only in the spring. As the snow melts from the peaks of Bjelasica, Sinjajevina, and Komovi, the "Tear of Europe" transforms from a gentle stream into a powerful, surging torrent.
The Spring Phenomenon: Maximum Adrenaline
Spring rafting (typically from late March to the end of May) is a completely different beast than the summer float.
The Velocity: In the spring, the water level can be several meters higher than in August. This turns the 20km stretch from Kolašin to Mojkovac into a fast-paced "express" run. What takes three hours in the summer can often be conquered in about 60 to 90 minutes of intense paddling.
The Rapids: While the lower Tara is known for its drops, the upper Tara in spring is about continuous wave trains. You’ll navigate a series of high-volume rapids that require synchronized paddling and quick reactions from your skipper.
A Journey Through "Small Canyon"
This section of the river passes through a scenic gorge often referred to as the "Small Canyon."
The Landscape: You’ll paddle past the borders of National Park Biogradska Gora, witnessing the forest wake up from its winter slumber. The contrast between the turquoise, frothing water and the vivid spring greens of the budding beech trees is a photographer’s dream.
The Wildlife: With fewer tourists on the water compared to the peak summer season, you have a much higher chance of spotting gray herons or even deer drinking at the river's edge.
Program:
Except for the challenge and coming to feel real adrenaline rafting. This one-day arrangement starts in a period when the snow is melting over the mountains Komovi, Bjelasica, and Sinjavina.
