JEEP TOUR BJELASICA RING

Jeep Tour to the Bjelasica Ring: Montenegro’s Ultimate 4x4 Odyssey

If you want to experience the "wild beauty" of Montenegro without the grueling vertical hikes, the Bjelasica Ring is the gold standard for off-road exploration. While the coast offers the sea and Durmitor offers jagged rocks, Bjelasica offers rolling green "seas" of grass, glacial lakes, and the most accessible high-altitude vistas in the Balkans.

1. The Route: A Panoramic Circle

The tour typically starts in Kolašin (the "aerial spa" of Montenegro). The 4x4s leave the asphalt behind at the Kolašin 1450 and 1600 ski centers, ascending into a world of alpine pastures and nomadic settlements.

The "Three Peaks" Ascent: Most tours traverse the mountain's highest points: Troglava, Zekova Glava (2,117m), and Crna Glava (2,139m).

Mountain Eyes: From the ridges, you’ll look down upon the glacial lakes known as "Mountain Eyes," including Pešića Lake, Ursulovačko, and the Šiško lakes.

Bendovac Viewpoint: The tour's climax is often a stop at the Bendovac lookout. From here, you get a "bird’s eye" view of Biogradsko Lake and the virgin rainforest—one of Europe's last—nestled in the canyon below.

2. The Cultural Heart: Katun Life

The Bjelasica Ring isn't just about the scenery; it's about the Katuns (traditional summer shepherd villages).

Vranjak: You’ll pass through the Eco-Katun Vranjak, where traditional wooden huts look like they were plucked from a century ago.

The "Slow Food" Lunch: A highlight of the ring is stopping at a local mountain household (like Katun Dolovi) for a traditional lunch. Expect massive platters of Kačamak (a heavy, cheesy potato and flour dish), homemade cream (kajmak), and fresh mountain trout.

3. Practical Information

Duration: Usually 5 to 6 hours for the standard ring starting from Kolašin. Full-day tours from Podgorica or Budva can last 10 to 11 hours.

Best Time to Go: June to October. Outside of this window, the high passes of the "Ring" are often blocked by deep snow (though some operators offer specialized winter snow-jeep tours).

Program:

This is a day tour, convenient for realization in the period of June – October.

The tour starts from Kolasin and goes to the ski resort Kolasin 1450 where the off-road begins. The ride continues to the Vranjak summer village and goes to the highest peaks of Bjelasica (Troglava, Zekova Glava & Crna Glava).

During this tour, we will go to the viewpoints and look from the bird's perspective Bjelasica mountain eyes – lakes such as Pesica, Sisko, Ursulovacko, and Biogradsko.

We will visit the spring of the Biogradska River and stop by Katun Dolevi Lalevica where we will eat lunch with locals, tasting traditional Montenegrin cuisine.
